Obituary for Mary B. Pitstick

Mother-in-Law of Terry J. Summers and Grandmother of Vanessa Summers, both of Summers Funeral Home

MARY B. PITSTICK, age 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on Tuesday, the 4th day of April, 2023 at 2:31 a.m. at the Adena Fayette Medical Center following an extended illness.

She was born on April 7, 1935 in South Solon, Ohio to the late Carl and Flora (Knisley) Hisey. She was a 1953 graduate of South Solon High School. She received her nursing degree from Clark State Community College and retired from Madison County Hospital after 23 years of service. Prior to nursing, she had also worked as a teacher’s aide.

Mary had been actively involved at her church for many years as the piano player and various other positions in the church.  She was known as an excellent cook and baker. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending winters in Florida.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Pitstick, whom she married on September 19, 1954; her brothers, Lloyd (Lois) Hisey and Pete (Katie) Hisey; sister-in-law, Ruth Anna Knisley Hisey, and her dear friend, Wilda Wiedenheft.

Survivors include her children, Terri (Terry Joe) Summers, Darrell Pitstick, and Eric (Jennifer) Pitstick; grandchildren, Vanessa Summers, Mendi (Matthew) Talkington, Blake Pitstick, Bryce (Sierra) Pitstick and Reed Pitstick; great-grandchildren, Grant, Ellison and Tripp Talkington; and a close nephew, Randy Hisey as well as a host of relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Grace Community Church of South Solon with Pastor Bruce Sigman officiating.  Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at the South Solon Cemetery.
