Obituary for Harold R. Ullmer

Former OFDA President and Former owner and operator of RL Ullmer and Son Funeral Home

Harold Russell Ullmer, age 90, of Pompano Beach, FL, formerly of Kettering, passed away on February, 23, 2015. Harold is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Edith Ullmer (Ingram) and sister Mary Moorman. Harold was born to the late Russell and Etta Ullmer on September 14, 1924. He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Patricia Ullmer of Pompano Beach, FL; two daughters, Connie (Tom) Madliger of Springboro, OH and Kathy Smallwood of Kettering, OH; son, David (Lorie) Ullmer of Ft Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Shannon Leurck of Maineville, OH, Shawn (Brock) Smith and Tyson (Jessica) Madliger of Springboro, OH, Amanda (Shawn) Russell, Matthew Ullmer and Melissa Ullmer of Kokomo, IN, Amity (Paul) Bosworth and Sarah Smallwood of Columbus, OH; and five great-grandchildren, Allison, Maggie, Adam, Camdyn, and Finley. Prior to his retirement, Harold owned and operated R L Ullmer and Son Funeral Home in Kettering, OH for many years. Harold would be described as an old time funeral director that had a wonderful attention to detail. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theater as a Medic. Harold was known for his lovely voice and sang in church choirs and his community. He graduated from Roosevelt High School and Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science and was a member of the Kit Cat Club and Dayton Lodge # 147 F. and A. M., Family will greet friends from 9:00-11:00am on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. Kettering with a funeral service to follow at the funeral home. Harold will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crohn’s Colitic Foundation of America, 21301 Powerline Road #301, Boca Raton, FL 33433.
