Schedule:
- Day One: 1:00 - 6:00 PM / Dinner on your own.
- Day Two: 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM / Continental breakfast and lunch provided. Dinner on your own. You will have homework!
- Day Three: 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM / Continental breakfast provided.

Glenda Stansbury, MA, CFSP
Glenda joined InSight in 1996 as Marketing & Development Director. She has worked as an educator, teacher trainer, and seminar developer. She is a practicing Celebrant, adjunct professor at the University of Central Oklahoma Funeral Department and is a licensed funeral director/embalmer. She is also a recipient of the ICCFA Education Foundation's Lasting Impact Award and of the 2021 Death Care Rockstar of the Year award from the Parting Stone Cremation Rocks Awards.
Cathy Nichols
With her degree in education, Cathy taught in New Hampshire, Puerto Rico & Pittsburgh, and as an ESL teacher to Japanese auto executives. She also served as the Director of Congregational Care at a large suburban church for 12 years before joining the staff at Busch Funeral Services in 2002. She and her husband live in Bay Village, OH and she considers it a privilege to create and conduct meaningful personalized tributes for bereaved families and thoroughly enjoys being part of the InSight Celebrant Training team.
What is a Celebrant Training & Who is it for?
Celebrant Training is an intensive 3-day certification, training people how to provide unique and personalized funeral for families, specializing in those families who do not wish to have a traditional or religious based funeral.
This training a specifically designed for anyone interested in understanding the process of the funeral service and in learning how to personalize and design meaningful funerals or tributes. A successful Celebrant is one who enjoys working with people, has writing and public speaking ability as well as listening and consulting skills. The seminar attracts a wide variety of participants: funeral directors, pre-need and aftercare specialists, hospice professionals, clergy, chaplains, retired teachers, business people, actors, writers and students.
The curriculum covers articulating the Value of the Funeral, Listening Skills, Family Meetings, Service Planning, Music and Readings Resources, Writing, Closing Ceremonies, Master of Ceremonies, Presentation Skills, and Developing the Celebrant Concept in the Community.
Participants will receive a Celebrant Training Notebook and a copy of Doug Manning's book, The Funeral: A Chance to Touch, A Chance to Serve, A Chance to Heal.
What will a Celebrant Offer a Funeral Home:
Connecting with a Celebrant will provide a funeral home an invaluable resource to offer to families who do not have or do not wish to utilize a clergy person. After a few Celebrant funerals, word will spread quickly about the meaningful and caring funerals being conducted by the firm.
Some firms choose to send one or more people from their staff or community to become a Celebrant so that they will always have someone available to serve their families. Others use Celebrants in their community who are available to any funeral home.
CE Information for Funeral Directors:
- 17 CE Hours, includes 0.50 Ethics, approved with the State of Ohio Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors
- Note: InSight Institute is approved for funeral service continuing education credit with the APFSP.

Reservations must be made by Tuesday, July 9th. Any requests after this date are based upon availability and not guaranteed the group’s discounted room rate. Guests are encouraged to make reservations as soon as possible to ensure availability. Please note a credit card will be required to secure the reservation, but will not be charged until you check-in.
